About The Park
A new skateboarding park was established in May 2023 on the south side of the second-floor terrace of Sapporo Dome in Sapporo City, Hokkaido. This park was created in response to numerous requests from citizens seeking places to skateboard and is expected to contribute to increased utilization of Sapporo Dome.
Covering an expansive area of 1,600 square meters, one of the largest in the prefecture, the park features a 60-meter-long pump track. Pump tracks, which have gained popularity in recent years, allow riders to generate speed and momentum through body movements on undulating surfaces without pushing. While the pump track can be enjoyed by skaters of various skill levels, experienced riders should be mindful of beginners and adjust their speed accordingly.
The park also includes a spacious flat area for free riding, providing a safe and enjoyable space for beginners and young children. Despite its convenient location near tall buildings, the park offers shaded areas, making it a pleasant place to rest, especially during the summer.
The park’s opening hours are irregular and can be checked on the official website’s facility schedule. The park is open from 9:30 AM until around sunset. While equipment rentals are not available, the use of the park is free.
In addition to skateboards, the park allows the use of BMX bikes, MTBs, and running bikes (balance bikes).
Previously, there were few places in Sapporo City where people could freely enjoy skateboarding. The completion of this park has been well-received by locals, as it provides a dedicated space to skate without restrictions.
To ensure the continued existence and development of this park and to foster a greater understanding of skateboarding among the general public, it is important for all users to follow the rules and maintain good manners.”
